Thread: packages.en.gz: transfer closed with 92319 bytes remaining to read (user abort?)

  1. #1

Default packages.en.gz: transfer closed with 92319 bytes remaining to read (user abort?)

Although I was able to use my external dial up modem, I am unable to update packages.

Using YAST, or zypper, I can't download packages.en file.

    I did get the following:
Erreur de téléchargement (curl) pour 'http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/11.4/repo/oss/suse/setup/descr/packages.en.gz':
    Code erreur: User abort

I also had the problem using:
    curl -o test.gz http://download.opensuse.org/distrib...packages.en.gz
that failed with error 18, showing how many bytes was remaining.
As I understand, error 18 is when connection is closed by server, as it would have give a bigger than real file size. (But I find unbleivable that apache would be so buggy).

Default Re: packages.en.gz: transfer closed with 92319 bytes remaining to read (user abort?)

I have put modem0 in demilitarized zone of the firewall, stop the firewall.
    Changes both init1 and init2 (don't really know the diff) to be: AT Q0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2
(without +FCLASS=0 which I don't know and thought my old modem could not know about).

    But still the problem persist.

But wget deals with the problem much better, by asking the server to give the missing end:
    linux-el1z:/home/paul # wget -v -o packages.en.gz10 http://download.opensuse.org/distrib...packages.en.gz ; echo $?

I guess there is a way to set curl parameters to do the same?

Default Re: packages.en.gz: transfer closed with 92319 bytes remaining to read (user abort?)

Finally, I replaced official repositories by local ones, and I have been able to update my packages this way.
So I reactivated my firewall and everything goes fine.
