Thread: Huawei Mobile Broadband on 3

  1. #1

Default Huawei Mobile Broadband on 3

I am using a GNOME Desktop on openSUSE 11.3 with an x86_64 Standalone computer.

I have a Huawei Dongle on the 3 Mobile Broadband Network.

How do I configure this system?

    Any advice, please.

    HI,
    What model exactly? I have a E220
Install mobile-broadband-provider-info package and the one including "ppp", wvdial . I'm not using gnome but under KDE this is kppp
Add your user in the dialout group and restart.
Then when you connect the modem, the network manager applet will recognize it automatically. You may have to choose your country and provider

    From my netbook:
    openSUSE 12.2 (x86_64) KDE 4.8.5, Laptop: KEYNUX Ymax I7, RAM 4GB, HD 120GB SSD (OS) + 500GB, 64-bits Quad-core Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU Q 740 @ 1.73GHz, Video 17" nVidia GeForce GTX 285M

Thanks, phiga. I have an E1550 model.

However, as I'm using Gnome I'm still uncertain how to proceed.

    Anyone able to help?

ok, I'm not a specialist but you should fix it by installing the following packages:
    - usb_modeswitch
    - usb_modeswitch-data

It should switch off the usb storage of the key
