Default Software for recovering lost data?

A few days ago I accidentally deleted a video file from the trash and I am looking forward to recover it but google could not give me a hand. Even worse I don't remember the name of the file.
Is there any specific free software for this? Or command line? (I am not good at it but can learn fast).
    Thanks!

It depends on the filesystem you use, e.g. for Ext3/4 there is extundelete utility - extundelete: An ext3 and ext4 file undeletion utility (Unfortunately I could not find openSUSE package.)

Some time ago it really helped me to recover a lost file.

Anyway, you should not touch the filesystem, esp. avoid modifying or saving new files, this could potentially rewrite part or whole file you are looking for!

And just a note: if you use a SSD with trim enabled you won't be able to recover deleted files as SSD physically clears freed sectors at TRIM.

There is an app called testdisk that can recover deleted files. Runs from the command line as superuser. I've only used it once a while ago to recover a file from a SDHC card. To recover a file you run photorec - comes with testdisk.

TestDisk - CGSecurity and extundelete: An ext3 and ext4 file undeletion utility were already suggested.

What version openSUSE are you using? You can download testdisk from here for 11.4.
If you're using another version then just change the version number in the drop down and make sure you tick 'include home projects' in search options. Then follow the instructions on the testdisk site, but basically you open your command line interface (e.g. konsole for KDE) and then become superuser (by typing su- and then entering your password). Then start PhotoRec by typing photorec at the command prompt.

    Dear Friend,
There are several third party Windows data recovery software available today which can be used for retrieving lost, inaccessible and permanently deleted files from windows partitions. These tools are the third party software that recover lost, inaccessible and damaged data from formatted as well as deleted disk partitions. Further, these tools provide accurate recovery of windows data from the damaged partitions. one of them software is Recoveryfix for Window Data Recovery you can download this software from here Restore Partition Utility to Recover & Restore Deleted, Formatted Windows Partitions
Don't want to sound impolite, but if it was not for the quoted post I would swear you are a bot. This is an Opensuse forum, and this is an OpenSuse related question. The link you provided does not help.

you may want to use a Linux live cd or some other boot media, any writes to the filesystem could overwrite the blocks that were part of the file your trying to recover.
