Question How to install g77 fortran compiler on opensuse11.4

    hi.
I need to install fluka.its manual says:
To install FLUKA a FORTRAN compiler suitable for your platform is required to generate the FLUKA executable(s). At this moment, the only distributed version of FLUKA requires g77.
I cant find g77 in package list.in ubuntu and debian it was.how can i install g77?

g77 does no longer exist (for a long time now) it was the old fortran 77
compiler which is replaced by gfortran. gfortran is still a valid f77
    compiler of course.

So what I would do if I were you is: Install gfortran and check if fluka
compiles - if it insists on having an executable named g77 create a symbolic
link g77 -> gfortran in /usr/bin and check if that does the job.

If you find somewhere a g77 package and install it you will most likely
screw up your system since this will not be compatible to any part of the
gnu compiler collection you have now as a standard in opensuse.

The package name is gcc-fortran, so to install it
    Code:
    sudo zypper in gcc-fortran
If you want to try f2c and fluka supports this (I simply do not know that
since I do not use or compile fluka) then you have of course to install f2c.
    Code:
    sudo zypper in f2c
To create a symbolic link g77 which points to gfortran (if you want to use
the first idea) do the following
    Code:
    su -
    cd /usr/bin
    cp -s gfortran g77
    exit
