    Hi

At what point do you get the error?

Are you sure you have connectivity to the server (ie, NNTP isn't blocked
by a firewall at your site)?

What do you get if you go to a terminal window and type:

    telnet forums.opensuse.org 119

    ?

nope, completely empty. I can access newsgroup via telnet and seamonkey, so it is clearly an evolution problem. I could use seamonkey instead but, I like evolution because of its calendar and task stuff so I don't want to use 2 different applications. it could be awesome if we could solve this one.
The only problem with troubleshooting is that sometimes trouble shoots back.

What version of Evo (and on what release of openSUSE) are you using?

I sent bug report to gnome bugzilla, maybe it would resolve this.

That seems to be causing the problem - over is an invalid command on this
    server.

I'd file a bug on this on bugzilla. The xover command does work, but it
seems that the version of evo that you're using isn't behaving correctly.
