/repositories/GNOME:/Factory/openSUSE_11.1
Hi,
Thanks in advance for any help.
I'm trying to update my system, and i'm getting mostly 404's on software updates and trying to install software via the manager.
This error is thrown:
There was an error in the repository initialization.
[|] Valid metadata not found at specified URL(s)
History:
- SKIP request: User-requested skipping of a file
- File '/repodata/repomd.xml' not found on medium 'http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/GNOME:/Factory/openSUSE_11.1/'
I pasted the URL in to my browser and see that its 404.
If i change it to "1.2" it is found (along with repomd.xml)
Index of /repositories/GNOME:/Factory/openSUSE_11.2
I see that you can change the repository URL in "Configured Software Repositories" but it doesn't seem to prevent all the errors i am getting with on line and software updates.
How can i change this, and why is the URL no longer valid?
Many thanks.
Regards, samwootton

Re: /repositories/GNOME:/Factory/openSUSE_11.1
As 11.1 is not supported any more and 11.2 still is (like 11.3 and 11.4 will be there in a few days) I can understand those repos are gone.

Re: /repositories/GNOME:/Factory/openSUSE_11.1
openSUSE 11.1 has passed its end of life
http://en.opensuse.org/Lifetime and all support and supporting repos
has ended..
except, there is an initiative to extend the lifetime on a best effort
basis...read about that here: http://en.opensuse.org/Evergreen and
here: http://www.google.com/search?q=site%....org+evergreen
and, by the way, when you access any repo with 'factory' in the name
you are pulling in code from the NEXT openSUSE..

Hi,
Thank you to you both for your responses and help.
So how can i edit the path for updates? How can i change it from 1.1 to 1.2, so it searches for new and correct updates?
Whats the best thing for me to do?
Many thanks.
