Default Απ: Can't boot from CD

Go to your bios and set it here. Choose boot from cd or DVD etc.

Try to set again bios first boot cd
    second boot cd etc

Maybe you must check your cd. Try to write your installation image in another dvd.

i understand that other machines can boot from this CD...
and, other CDs can boot on this HP....so, it must be a matter of
    _this_ CD on _this_ HP......right?

so, try a few things, like:

    1. use a CD/DVD lens cleaner disk because maybe the lens is a little
dirty (anyone smoke around the CD reader?)...those can be purchased in
lots of music shops...come with a little liquid cleaner--READ and
    follow the instructions explicitly..

    2. take a good look at the data side of the CD: does it have
fingerprints, or scratches, or dried cola, or anything on the surface?
if so very very gently and carefully hold the CD under a water tap
with a little flowing WARM (not hot) water and then use a drop or two
of grit-less dish washing liquid to gently (with your hand, no brush
and NO finger rings) wash the surface...then dry carefully with a very
    soft and lint-free cloth..

if you do both of those and it still will not boot, you will probably
have to buy another CD drive....or, burn another disk and cross your
    fingers..

unfortunately, not all CD readers can read all CDs...it is something
about head alignment and blah blah blah and LUCK!

    need to write it?

back in the old days (the '90s) when America On Line (AOL) made
internet access so easy to jillions of n00bs, and so many of them
would come into a thread...like one where folks might be talking about
how good buttered bread is....and, one guy might write:

    "I like buttered bread."

and, soon there were be 15 (or 150) AOL folks writing:

    "Me too."

and, after a while the folks who had been around the internet a few
years would make fun of the AOL n00bs by writing

    <AOL>Me too.</AOL>
