transparent-embedded gnome-terminal with devilspie

I have a working trans.ds file and installed devilspie.
It runs great, but the stickler is that if I “click off” or change application focus, I no longer can get the focus back to the terminal.

The terminal window is responsive other than that.
I can open a new tab, but I get no focus there either.

Here’s the trans.ds code

; generated_rule trans
( if
( and
( matches ( window_name ) "trans" )
)
( begin
( undecorate )
( skip_pager )
( skip_tasklist )
( wintype "dock" )
( set_workspace 1 )
( center )
( geometry "896x800+150+100" )
; width x height + x + y
( below )
)
)

This is the same code I have used for years, across dozens of distros and it has worked in all without exception. But I seem to recall that I had to do something ‘extra’ to get it to behave the way it’s supposed to in OpenSUSE 11.3.

God I hope it’s not Desktop Effects. :’(
It may be the wintype option.

I have read all the usual docs and posts, and as I said "… the same code I have used for years, across dozens of distros…

I’m hoping that someone can spot the issue.

Thank you all for your time.

do what you wish, but if i were you, instead of posting to an openSUSE
forum where there might happen along a Devils Pie user every other
month or two, why not try to find a place where someone who knows
something about Devil’s Pie hangs out…

a google leads me to believe it is mostly a “Ubuntu thing” so, ask
over there…or if the documentation is actually that deficient ask
the maker: http://www.burtonini.com/blog/computers/devilspie

or log a bug: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/browse.cgi?product=devilspie

but, if you just wanna hang here and bump, its okay by me…

Thanks DenverD:

I am just being overzealous.

Things take time, I know.

Well, I installed 11.4 and everything is just PEACHY.
All my “issues” with this topic and a couple of others seem to have been resolved by this release.

Good JOB!
