Default Major problems after upgrading KDE to 4.5

I am using openSUSE 11.3 and I was attempting to upgrade to KDE 4.5. Part of my problem is I made a mistake and another part seems to be the error is a common problem when doing this upgrade.

Well The problem is when I added the repo I put 11.2 instead of 11.3 and when I tried to log back in to refresh KDE I got a little box that popped up and said "Could not start ksmserver. Check your installation". Well after taking all day messing with it and finding a different computer to look up the full address of the repo because I couldn't remember all of it and even though Gnome is installed it is not listed as an option at login, I finally ended up having to use the only fix which seemed to work for everyone else which was to edit /usr/bin/startkde by taking out the line LD_BIND_NOW=true. Well now I can log in but everything is majorly MAJORLY wacky. The panel is still in its usual spot and the same size but everything else that goes on the panel is either invisible, HUGE, or floating off somewhere random. Please does anyone know how to fix this? I had everything set up just the way I liked it and I would hope to be able to salvage it.

Somethings are best learned the hard way I guess. At least I got to brush up on Vi lol...

You can manage it in Yast from level 3, as I posted in another of your posts.

    Well first of all
    open a terminal and write

    Code:
    su
    add repository

    add the extra repository

    Code:
    # zypper addrepo -f http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Extra/KDE_Release_46_openSUSE_11.3/ KDE46-Extra
    And upgrade

    Code:
    # zypper dup --from KDE46 --from KDE46-Extra
    If you use network manager

    Code:
    # zypper install plasmoid-networkmanagement

    Code:
kquitapp knetworkmanager qdbus org.kde.kded /kded loadModule networkmanagement
Close terminal and reboot your system.

    Warning all repositories possibly change

Well, I don't really want to go to 4.6 yet, but anyways the problem I have now is just that the panel is all messed up and all the things on it are really huge and in random places. But I found something else that I did wrong, when i did the upgrade I didn't disable the update and oss repo so yast was only showing me updates from those. When I disabled everything but the KDE 4.5 repo I now get a whole ton of updates and missing packages so hopefully this will fix it.

O.k. well that got everything back to normal except one issue, that being that everything takes about 30 seconds to fully load and then immediately freezes. Note that programs such as firefox that are running do not freeze, just KDE.

Well I went ahead and upgraded to 4.6 and now everything works fine. I don't know what the heck happened before, but 4.6 seems to be working good.
