Antivir requires libdazuko.so

I am trying to install Antivir 3.1 on Linux 11.3 64-bit. However it is asking for a libdazuko.so. How do I find this?

Thanks

Based on the included file listings it is included in the 32 and 64 bit packages provided here:

RPM Search OpenSuSE antivir-3.1.3.4.1-1.1.x86_64.rpm

RPM Search OpenSuSE antivir-3.1.3.4.1-1.1.i586.rpm

Thank You,

I tried that RPM and it still gives me the same dependency issue with libdazuko.so.

Seems to be some kind of bug on 64-bit. It doesn’t look like it ever got resolved.

Can someone recommend a different lightweight antivirus app?

Sorry to hear about the problem. I must say that while I always use an antivirus program in Windows, I have not had need of one for openSUSE. I feel that in general it is not required when using only Linux files for Linux. What is your concern that is causing you to look for a Linux antivirus program?

Thank You,

Well, I’ve heard that with Linux you don’t need an antivirus program, however, I’m not buying that. I also installed chkrootkit. Basically I just want the most secure system as possible. And the best practice is probably not to run as root.

Anti virus will only protect windows users. ie if you download a file and pass it on to one of the many unfortunate.

claim is most used in Linux

You should. In fact, the antivir program you want to install is a windows
antivirus program, running in linux. It does not search for linux viruses,
because there are none to search for >:-P

We use antivirus in linux to scan mail that is going to be passed to
windows users, or to scan shared storage disks used by windows users via
samba. We don’t use it to protect linux, we use it to protect windows!

Then, we no longer use libdazuko.so, that’s why you can’t find it. Just
install the antivir package that comes with openSUSE, then upgrade it. You
will see it doesn’t require the dazuko module, at least it didn’t in the
11.2 I have.

That kernel module was used to scan files on access on shared folders. The
currently preferred method is that samba itself triggers the scan. I can’t
explain how to do that, as I don’t have that requirement in my setup.

Try to install it in terminal

su
# zypper install libdazuko.so.

The dazuko module is not really needed to run antivir. It is a mistake of
the packager.

Don’t waste your time with zypper in. It isn’t to be found for what ever reason. I have antivir installed on one opensuse 11.3 system, but am unable to install on another. Something has been borked within the last month. libaduzko is not to be found for what ever reason.
