    Default Canon Pixma MX320

Gentlemen (& Ladies, if there are any around). I am now completely befuddled, bemused and confused!

I loaded 11.3 on a spare drive just to find out what it is all about. To my amazement the scanner driver for the printer is supplied and works. But no printer driver; so I am still caught between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea. Canon are sticking to their canons and refuse to provide an update.

Any bright guys (or gals) around to rectify the problem?

You might need to install the driver from here:

    PIXMA MX320

BTW: Are you using a 64-bit or 32-bit OS? 64-bit can present extra challenges if installing 32-bit drivers...

32 bit OS. The point is that the link you supplied is where I downloaded the driver for 11.1. Canon are not interested in pursuing the requirement for updated drivers. Why they bothered in the first place remains a mystery!

...and so many of us avoid Canon for that reason. HP, Brother, and Epson have a better reputation here.

So, I didn't quite understand whether you found the printer driver and managed to install it, but it doesn't work, or if you didn't get that far...

I don't have this hardware to play with, but I did manage to download the MX-320 driver, install it, then get as far as pretending to configure it via the CUPS web interface without an issue.

What about Lexmark? Saw an ad the other day saying the Lexmark ink
cartridges are just $4 each. That's more than a seventh what we pay for
HP ink. I hate the sleazy drug-dealer mentality that HP, et. al. has
taken towards consumers. I'd gladly pay an honest price for a good
printer if I could get ink at a reasonable cost and it has good Linux
    compatibility/support...

TurboPrint has a Linux driver for this printer. Not free, but cheaper
than buying another printer, and you can try before you buy:

Thanks. Canon Europe is where I went initially only to find that they have stopped at 11.2. As I mentioned, they are not interested in updating.
Went to TurboPrint for Linux and tried to pose a question. When I hit "send" screen went blank with the message "Illegal adddress" and bombed out my router. Reset router and looked at TP for supported printers. MX320 is there, last edition 24/03/2009; way before the arrival of 11.3.

So now I am stuck between the proverbial rock and a hard place. Anyone who wants to swap something fully compatible for my MX320? //forums.opensuse.org/images/smiliesnew/devil.png

Yes, they are don't update their drivers often (as the numerous Linux forum threads would indicate). However, I found that I could still download the driver package and it installed without errors, so that this model was now available to CUPS. Did you get that far?

Sorry, I'm not with you. Do you also have the MX320 on 11.3 with scanner opperating on 11.3 driver and 11.1 driver for print?
As I seemed to be getting nowhere on this thread I started a new one (just to confuse the issue).
