    Default xfce 4.8 problems

Somebody try to xfce 4.8 on openSUSE 11.3 ?

    My experinces are:
    - mount/automount doesn't work with usb devices and cd/dvd
(I do "mount" from command line)

    - shutdown and reboot function to get error message "not authorized required"
(I do "shutdown" or "reboot" my system from command line)

    Thx.

    T.

Can you please elaborate more about your issue. Did you not try the gui or opening thunar if the device is showing up.

I try thunar but no error message anywhere.

I think the problem cause polkit settings
becase I have an other opensuse 11.3 with kde 4.4 and everything works prefectly and the new installation with xfce 4.8 (other machine) works wrong.

    For example:
    In kde 4.4
    # polkit-action --action org.freedesktop.hal.storage.mount-removable
    action_id: org.freedesktop.hal.storage.mount-removable
description: Mount file systems from removable drives.
message: System policy prevents mounting removable media
    default_any: auth_admin_keep_always (factory default: no)
    default_inactive: auth_admin_keep_always (factory default: no)
    default_active: yes

    in xfce 4.8
    # polkit-action --action org.freedesktop.hal.storage.mount-removable
    action_id: org.freedesktop.hal.storage.mount-removable
description: Mount file systems from removable drives.
message: System policy prevents mounting removable media
    default_any: no
    default_inactive: no
    default_active: yes

    The differences for installation that:
    - with kde 4.4 system install from original opensuse_11.3_dvd OSS
    - with xfce 4.8 installation to do build in kiwi (susestudio)
The installation kit is same in two cases but installation mode differences.
I use default settings in two cases.

Which opensuse repository are using? Can you please post it here. Do you have another DE installed also? There are two repo for opensuse xfce. The other is the factory repo with frequent updates but seems to work fine. Please have a look at your installation you might had missed something during your installation. Something to look for is the thunar volpman. Do an update and please post back if I know something what is causing it I will try to help. I just installed the xfce 4.8 from the factory 3 days ago and seems to be running well. See my screenshot in the February screenshot section and you will see the automounted cdrom playing using vlc.
Lastly I tried mounting a usb memory card, first try it didn't mount, I remove and re insert it and it showed up in the screen.

For installation i used standard OSS and NON-OSS kit and xfce repo from:
    Index of /repositories/X11:/xfce/openSUSE_11.3

I have xfce 4.8 and icewm on my machine.

So, Can I try to update xfce form factory repo ?
    Index of /repositories/X11:/xfce/openSUSE_Factory

I will test it as soon as possible and feedback to you.

    Thank for the help.
I try to test all options.

    "With caution"
and don't remove your present xfce repo so you can easily revert back if there will be a problem.

I installed update from factory but nothing changed.

    I am thinking about that:
My system installed from kiwi build system (that made: susestudio) (Welcome – SUSE Studio)
And I use "slim" displaymanager. (SLiM - Simple Login Manager)
    Maybe cause the problem ?

    I found solution:
I made new kiwi build image with base system and xfce with "Recommandation" packages
Change displaymanager from slim to xdm and change kernel-default to kernel-desktop
    and now works good everything.
I don't know what cause the problem but I try to investigate it later.

    Thank you for the help.
