Default howto: add local stuff to boot

I tried to add a stanza to /etc/rc.d/boot.local but it did not get executed following the next reboot. I then tried to find documentation on the structure of opensuse boot scripts, but failed.

the boot scripts in opensuse are sufficiently different from: fedora, ubuntu, redhat, debian, (pretty much all other linuces) that one needs a tutorial or documentation to learn howto add scripting to local like one adds stuff to rc.local elsewhere.

please, give me a pointer or URL page to this topic.

    thanks

openSUSE uses /etc/init.d/after.local to execute commands at the end of the init process. You have to create this file.

go to http://www.novell.com/documentation/ and fetch the 30MB
"openSUSE 11.3 documentation"...or whichever supported version you are
using (out of support also available, in the archive..)

among other things therein is a "book_opensuse_reference.pdf" though
i've used it as a get-to-sleep aid ;-) i've not been through it
all...and, exactly what you seek may or may not be included..

if it is not i'm pretty sure the "documentation team" or "wiki team"
would be happy to have a new contributor..

    good luck..

Or /etc/init.d/boot.local to add things in the very beginning of the boot process.
