It's doesn't work here as well. For me the easiest way to reproduce is to click a link that comes in email notifications about new posts and after that try to log in. I always land on the page not found this way.

The good news is when I go back to the page before I clicked the register/login link and refresh the page I'm actually logged in. So my understanding is that login works but something is messed up with the redirection after login.

    Best regards,
    Greg

Thanks for the feedback, guys. I ran into the redirect problem myself
again - not sure if I can see the bug any more, but I'll get myself added
to the CC: list on it so I can follow what's going on.

what i wonder is, is anyone who is trying to fix the problem reading
here? or, is anyone here (Jim?) forwarding information found here?

for example, under item 4, in http://tinyurl.com/3c2u6do i gave the two
specific situations in which it always directs to "Page not found" *or*
always directs to an actual web page, and arrived at a conclusion:

"therefore, i _guess_ the fault is in the icslogin.php code.."

if my 'therefore' is incorrect, so be it...the fact remains that only
returned URLs with this "login/icslogin.php?destination=" in the URL are
a problem--and, it _should_ be possible to determine what part of the
entire system is inserting that string without 124 posts in this forum
of us just talking to ourselves.

The person working on the bug said he had read over the threads in this
    forum discussing the problem.

I was, but as I'm no longer with Novell, I'm not CC:'ed on the bug any
more. I'm trying to get that addressed, but finding new employment has
been a higher priority for me.

As I understand it, it's not the PHP code, it's something with Access
Manager (which is a piece of iChain). I've suggested that they compare
to one that works (ie, the Novell forums, where this login redirection
problem does not happen that I've seen or heard reported). AFAIK, that's
    what they're currently looking at.

    Jim,
So you're one of the "800 or so" released in the recent Attachmate/Novell purge?

Sorry to hear you're looking for new employment, best wishes

    Yep, that would be me.

Thanks, got a few leads that I'm chasing down, a couple of them look
    really promising.

Jim I also wish you much luck as you seek new employment. Many of us have been in the same boat before and sympathize with your situation. While few things are exactly the same, mine was just 7 years and 11 months ago, I know that like I, you will do well and that things will be even better for you in your next job. It is hard to see that now perhaps but having good leads is a good thing to hear. Good luck and Gods speed to you and your family as you search for your next position.

Thanks, James - it's been about 15 years since my last stint
    unemployed.

This time it is much easier in some respects, and in others, it's a
little harder. Last time I was an IT geek. This time around, I have a
background in IT and business, and was preparing to make a move into
management (well, I was a program manager already, but I was preparing to
move to a supervisory role). A lot of my last job was ad-hoc stuff,
though, which is making it difficult to quantify in a meaningful way.

I've been working with Novell products for over 20 years, and my next job
probably won't involve them at all (but never say never).

here is hoping your job hunt goes as well as this bug hunt, because as
far as i can tell it has been [SOLVED]!!

or, another way to say that is i've not had the landing on a "Page not
found" for a week or more..

anyway, i think the fixer finally found the problem (i wonder if it was
in the php code as i surmised, but i guess we will never know.)

(maybe laying off 800 people jarred those staying into paying more
attention to the little details that irritate the peons, huh?)
