    Question Improve XTerm on XFCE

    Hi,
on OpenSuse 11.3 installed first KDE Desktop but my desktop Pentium 4 2.2Ghz is really slow... with XFCE work perfectly but XTerm is very poor. Cut and Paste text selection don't wok, like Mouse selection and font.

How improve features of XTerm XFCE? Thanks!

I am not familiar with 'terminal' program in the XFce desktop, but for a light weight desktop you could try LXDE. Its terminal program is 'lxterminal' and for that program copy and paste from a terminal is very good.

... hmm ... still ... are you certain Xfce only has the terminal program "xterm", and does not have a terminal program called "terminal". And are you certain this copy and paste does not work for terminal ?

"xterm" is a fairly generic terminal emulator. I currently use it in KDE, and I had previously used it in gnome and in XFCE. Cut/paste works fine for me in all three of those environments.

As I understand it, the X-server has two separate cut buffers. If I recall correctly, xterm does not use the same buffer as Konsole, so cut/paste between them was not always successful. However, I am often using cut/paste between an xterm and firefox or between xterm and other software.

Gnome might work a bit faster.

Xterm has those features, and they work well >:-)

They simply work differently than the equivalent in KDE or Gnome. Hint: there is a manual ;-)

Under X, copying by selecting with the mouse and pasting by clicking the middle button (the wheel) works in all applications, whether terminals, browsers or whatever editor windows. I don't see the problem here ... or do you configure the mouse differently (I guess it should be possible) to emulate Windows behaviour and double click on everyone?

Xfce has terminal and it is called 'terminal' also. To try use run and type terminal.
and it is a cool terminal.

Of course you can. Maybe it is even more customizable than konsole.
