Thread: Teamspeak 3 install

    Default Teamspeak 3 install

I'm asking the community for help. This is the first time ever I use any distributions of linux.

I just did a fresh install of openSUSE 11.3

I downloaded Teamspeak 3 for linux version named Client x86 3.0.0-beta36 at the following address: TeamSpeak - Downloads

I go to to my Download folder and double-click on the file named :
    TeamSpeak3-Client-linux_x86-3.0.0-beta36.run

Now I get this error message (translated from french) :
Impossible to open file *Teamspeak... etc*
gedit was not able to detect the encoding
Verify that you did not try to open a binary file
Select an encoding in the menu and retry

Default is UTF-8, I tried ISO-8859-1, ISO-8859-15, WINDOWS-1251 and GB2312 and none of them worked.

Does anyon know how to circumvent this issue?

    Thanks

This doesn't look like a standard installation.
You need to go to the console (terminal). (Press Alt F2 for this and type konsole if you are using KDE).
Go to the directory where you have downloaded the software.
Change the execute permission of the file and run it.
    Code:
    chmod +x TeamSpeak3-Client-linux_x86-3.0.0-beta36.run
    ./TeamSpeak3-Client-linux_x86-3.0.0-beta36.run
openSUSE 12.3 (x86_64) with Kernel 3.7.10-1.16-desktop and KDE 4.11.2 on MacBook Pro
Latest MS Windows version used: Win95

Open the folder containing the downloaded file
Right click the blank space in the folder window and select 'open in terminal'

    in the terminal type:

    sh Team

at this point press the TAB key and the complete file name should auto complete, then hit enter.

    First though

    Thanks for the quick replies!

ok so I did what syampillai suggested first and Teamspeak did *seem* to install; it created a Teamspeak3 folder with a bunch of sub folders and files within my downloads folders.

I say it seemed to install because although that happened, it has not been added to my app explorer and if I try to run it from the exec file nothing happens.

Doing a bit of reading left and right, I realized that TS specifies that libstdc++6 is required and I don't think it is installed on my computer. When I do a seach for it in Yast Software manager, I only get results up to libstdc++45

Any insights on how I can install the required library?

    Thanks

How did you try running it? It wont appear in the menu.
As suggested by Malcolm, install libstdc++45
    Code:
    sudo zypper install libstdc++45
Go to the terminal again, change to the installed directory (the folder where the following file is found) and try:
    Code:
    ./ts3client_runscript.sh
openSUSE 12.3 (x86_64) with Kernel 3.7.10-1.16-desktop and KDE 4.11.2 on MacBook Pro

Hi, I am new to Linux and chose OpenSuse.

I am trying to play Starcraft2 with teamspeak3.
Reached success with Starcraft 2 and wine but not with teamspeak3.

I did all wrote here but cant use teamspeak3.

    I did:
    chmod +x TeamSpeak3-Client-linux_x86-3.0.0-beta36.run
    ./TeamSpeak3-Client-linux_x86-3.0.0-beta36.run
It shows a folder with files and subfolders.

    tried:
    sh ts3_client_linux_x86
    and
    sh ts3_client_runscript.sh and nothing happened.

Then I installed: libstdc++45 through YaST.
Then did sudo zypper install libstdc++45 with success.
Then tried ./ts3client_runscript.sh and nothing happened.

    I am using OpenSuse 11.3.

Is there anything else I can do?

    Thanks in advance,
    Pedro Luiz

    PS: Sorry about english mistakes.
