any way after yast loads i can see that most of the packages in the summary of changes list is checked for installation ,

i don’t know if it’s safe to unchecked them or not ? why should i install at all ??

Hi,

It is safe to do so. The system installs updates, Flash, Ms fonts and language package.

Don’t hsitate and proceed.

hhhmmm 165 mb this is going to be along day

Sorry for you… :\

Are you on a dial up connection?

The actual download size is not that big, Yast seems to quote the size of the installed package. If you watch carefully as it downloads a package, it might be say: 4MBto download, but is 9MB installed. It’s the 9MB that Yast seems to use to calculate the download size.

It is possible to opt out, but I wouldn’t recommend it if you can run it OK.

Not really, download size is download, rpm, size

The reduction in size comes when it can download an incremental (delta or
patch) package instead of the full rpm.

And, for an initial install, it might be full packages that were not in the
CD/DVD, not really updates.

OpenSUSE updates are not really tailored for people with limited internet.
