Default TB on GB drive after upgrade

I recently upgraded from openSUSE 11.0 to 11.3. I had a backup archive before the upgrade and wanted to make another one today. I can't because the destination external hard drive is only 500gb.

The Yast backup said I had over 300 tb to back up! - which can't be since the physical hard drive is only 40gb. So I attempted to do the same thing from the command line and got the same result.

I started going through the directories, looking at properties. I found that /proc and /var/lib/ntp show 128 tb of unknown and unreadable data.

    Please advise.

    Cordially,

I found this when I searched on proc kcore huge.

    Why is /proc/kcore so big?

The folder /var/lib/ntp/proc seems to just be an image of /proc with the same kcore "file". I must assume you would exclude these kcore files and perhaps you would not back up these folders normally.

If you consider just how large the world and openSUSE usage is, we are indeed next door neighbors. If you need any other help, just let us know. Got anything not working just the way your like, let us know and we will try to help. AND a great Big Howdy from Austin Texas....
