    Default CompizConfig Settings Manager won't save anything

    Hi all,

    Whenever I tick boxes it doesn't save anything after closing.

    When I clicked on Advanced Search it froze (twice) after showing a progress bar. I got this error when clicking on preferences:

    jerome@linux-yxnq:/dev> ccsm
    Backend : ini
    Integration : true
    Profile : default
    Adding plugins
    Loading icons...
    Traceback (most recent call last):
    File "/usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages/ccm/Pages.py", line 1312, in ShowPreferences
    preferencesPage = PreferencesPage(self.Context)
    File "/usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages/ccm/Pages.py", line 1161, in __init__
    self.PluginListPage = PluginListPage(context)
    File "/usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages/ccm/Pages.py", line 1008, in __init__
    self.UpdateEnabledPluginsList()
    File "/usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages/ccm/Pages.py", line 1049, in UpdateEnabledPluginsList
    activePlugins = self.Context.Plugins['core'].Screen['active_plugins'].Value
    KeyError: 'core'

    By default nothing is ticked but I think there are some effects already enabled on my system.

    Does anyone knows what could be wrong? I would just like to be able to change my settings.

    Never mind, it seems like we should not use CompizConfig Settings Manager in 11.3 KDE.

    All these settings are accessible under KMenu > Configure Desktop > Desktop > Desktop Effects.

    I will uninstall the CompizConfig Settings Manager...

    This is a wrong conclusion. If you run compiz to generate the desktop effects, use the Compiz manager.
    In your case: you don't use compiz, the effects are generated by KWin, so configuration is through Systemsettings - Desktopeffects
