Full-Screen Video Streaming Lock-up

When I play a video web stream full-screen, the image randomly freezes. I can still move the mouse and hear the audio, but I can’t click on anything, and I can’t get out of full-screen. No keyboard commands that I know work, and so I end up having to hold down the power button to kill the machine.

This didn’t happen in Ubuntu, so I’m pretty sure it’s not a hardware issue. And I changed the power management settings to do nothing, but it still happens. So, I don’t know what the deal is. Should I try a different flash player (I have the adobe player as default)?

Thanks.

Graphics information ??

Sorry. I’m not sure what exactly you’re looking for. Is there some command that would give you that information? Or is there a certain place I can find it for you?

Thanks.

What graphics card you have if any and if you have installed a driver
The result of this from a terminal with tell us some

/sbin/lspci -nnk

Here’s the result of the above command:

I have the same device on my Lenovo R61
It works fine
You have the right driver, it’s installed automatically when you install openSUSE

Are you using desktop effects? Try without

I disabled desktop effects and it still locked up when I was viewing streaming full-screen. And it doesn’t always happen after the same amount of time. It’s just random.

Are you 32 or 64 bit
How much RAM

32-bit, 2.0 GB RAM

OK
So we are talking flash video?
Does the whole machine become frozen?

look in .xsession-errors - anything there

Try reinstalling adobe flash player.

Yes. Flash player. The video freezes. The audio is still playing and the mouse still moves. But I can’t click on anything, and no keyboard commands work.

There is A LOT in .xsession-errors, and I don’t know what to look for.

Try reinstalling adobe flash player.

I reinstalled flash player, and it still happened.

I can’t say I do
But copy it to Pastebin
And we can have a look

I think that is adobe’mistake, sometimes i met that . If you wanna back to desktop, you can try to kill X and restart it.

Sorry. What’s Pastebin? And how do I do that?

Also, should I try a different flash player?

Pastebin.com - #1 paste tool since 2002!

The flash player you have should work fine

Can you tell me, are these videos by any chance HD vids?

Well, I’m not sure if I did the pastebin thing correctly. When I go to my paste, nothing shows up.

I haven’t tried viewing any hd videos.

Just a “me, too.”
Have the latest (AFAIK) installed as a Firefox Plugin from Adobe (v 10.1.r85), although windowed streaming seems to mostly work, full screen streaming almost always freezes (use ESC key to escape full screen but stream audio continues to play). Then, if necessary because I’m using the Firefox plugin, close the FF window doing the streaming to fully recover.

I’d be surprised if this is a SuSE issue.
