    Default K3b error

I am trying to make a copy of a DVD and keep getting errors. It is not the drive as it worked yesterday with 11.2 and not with 11.3

The error is "cdrecord has no permission to open the device."

The odd thing is that it happens about 60% of the way through the burn process. It also happens if I run K3B as root.

My user is a member of the users, cdrom, video and disk groups.

Cdrecord belongs to root:root with 777

    /dev/cdrom is root:root with 777, sr0 is root:cdrom with 660 it looks like rw- rw- ---

K3b version is 2.0.1-1.pm.2.1 and K3b codecs has the same version number.

The error message is extremely long so it is abbreviated.

As an aside, what package do I need for K3B to burn audio discs with mp3 files?

That error is not in the log output you posted below.

This is the first error or warning, and it is not fatal. Not a permission problem, I believe.

That's a real error. Perhaps hardware. Or software not talking to the hardware correctly. You said
it worked with 11.2 and not with 11.3... I would test again 11.2 (a small test partition, text mode,
is sufficient), and if it works, report in Bugzilla.

    But apparently it finished :-?

ok, I will give that a shot.

Everything I could find online suggested it was a permissions issue.

Maybe, but not in the text output you pasted here. Perhaps on another run you made :-?

I know this going to sound strange, but forcibly reinstall "policykit",
    "udev" and "hal" packages.

You are using Wodim / cdrecord - does it make a difference if you choose growisofs instead? I am not sure growisofs works with video-DVDs, but if so, I think it's worth a shot.
