    Done and it was with your instructions very very easy. Piece of cake
    I didn't assign any names in Parted Magic, but it did that itself. And it also marked root as boot itself.

    I had thought Suse might be hairy, but not that either, it chose partitions, and i just changed home, which it suggested should be in the 1.2 TB.
    It didn't format all, but as they had all (except swap) been formatted in parted I didn't change that. ( I hope that wasn't wrong. But I can easily redo the whole thing, it IS easy!)

    And i checked the various folders, no old mint files...

    So here is the partitions now

    and My Computer in Konqueror, - which still doesn't show swap, but maybe it simply shouldn't.

    Actually sda3 remained sda3, it didn't change, so the extended partition is sda2 as you will see. Should I change that, - I mean re-do?

    Will do (was just looking at the multimedia stuff we started with)

    I have unplugged sdb and sdc

    Disk /dev/sda: 1500.3 GB, 1500301910016 bytes
    255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 182401 cylinders
    Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
    Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
    I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
    Disk identifier: 0xb544b544

    Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
    /dev/sda1 1 6509 52283511 7 HPFS/NTFS
    /dev/sda2 8934 182402 1393376256 5 Extended
    /dev/sda3 * 6510 8934 19477504 83 Linux
    /dev/sda5 8935 9955 8193024 82 Linux swap / Solaris
    /dev/sda6 9955 17604 61441024 83 Linux
    /dev/sda7 17604 182402 1323739136 83 Linux

    Partition table entries are not in disk order

    Put in the extra hardrisks, and gave mount points, and everything is good.

    And added to that I think I got the multimedia right this time;
    still the audiocd play back was hanging, but I increased the buffer in smplayer. (Do you realise how much you have taught me about linux and suse along the way..? And I can also see that I have advanced and become an explorer penguin. I am not sure I shouldn't still be a puzzled student.. )

    One puzzle; the VLC player, when i look t up in Yast (from packman) there is a lot of unmarked files, and no one suggested. Exactly which would I use to install? All?

    Ahh and I used my newly acquired status as explorer to check out how to make sda7 accesible.!!
    (It is good I didn't figure that out before, 'cause then we wouldn't have found the mint files, and i hadn't learned with your help to delete the old os and put in a new one in a neat way.)
