Default taskbar does not show applications

    Hi all,

I just upgraded to openSUSE 11.3, and use Gnome.
Often I open FireFox, get information, which I want to save in an OpenOffice Writer or Calc file.

So I go to the left lower corner on the screen, tap on Computer, and then on OpenOffice Writer.

When the OpenOffice window has opened, I do not see, as I used to do, the FireFox button on the taskbar (or panel), I have to drag the OpenOffice window, so I can access my FireFox window. When I do that, the OO window bounces, which makes me feel rather sea-sick.

Is there a way to have the button for the open applications visible on the task bar (or panel) so that I can go immediately to the other open application ?

And how can I "put off" the bouncing effect, please ?

    Thanks very much,

    W

Thank you, at any rate : one problem cured.

I can leave the destop effects, but I have disabled [I]Wobbly[I].

I still can't imagine how to put my active tasks on the panel, though.

Could one give me a hint, please ?
    Thank you very much,

i've not used Gnome in a L O N G time but, is it possible to right
click on the panel and some kind of configuration or add options or
something offered in a popup menu..

i think one of those things offered will add a panel thingy which will
show all programs you have started...

sorry, if i were to go to gnome right now i would just have to look
around to find it...so, i can't tell you how to find what you are
looking for, *or* what it might be called...

oh! one thing: if you are wanting to put a small little icon over on
the far right of the panel, i never figured out how to do that...(too
    much like windows, anyway!)

oh, another thing is to not use all applications in full
screen...like, when i use OpenOffice i don't use it full screen and so
therefore can easily find the open Firefox also on the desktop...try it!!
