Thread: mail backup

  1. #1

    Default mail backup

    hello,

I'd like to know if there is a way to backup mail folders, as they are.
I already tried trough the "file" menu saving function, but it seems to be available for single messages, otherwise it saves more selected messages as unique file.
I'd like to manage mails directly on backup support, one by one if I need...
    Thanks

    Error copying et-expanded-mbox:_home_user_.evolution_mail_local_Inbox_Folder_subfolder.

    More details: File not valid.

Copy paste the exact command line you used to do that, and the exact result, between [code]
brackets. If you used a GUI, which, and write the exact procedure, in detail, and results.

    I used Gnome.
Simply I copy/pasted the .evolution folder on USB pendrive.
Near the end of the copying process I get the error message.

    Try this.

Rename the folder to evolution-backup, removing the dot

Now try copying this folder to wherever you want the backup
If that works, then rename it back to .evolution

I assume you used Nautilus to do the copy? Use some other program -- for example, mc.
    Make sure Evolution is closed.
