Default Amarok does not show album art

    Hi,

I have been using OpenSuse KDE for about a year now and my default music player is Amarok. I think it is a good music player, but I have just one complaint about Amarok 2.3.0 that comes bundled with 11.3 --- it simply does not display the embedded album art in mp3 files...

I don't know if Amarok users have faced this issue previously, but its quite surprising when VLC displays the embedded album cover but Amarok doesn't. Please have a look at the screen print below which shows VLC and Amarok playing the same song but Amarok does not show the album art...

I embed album art for my mp3's using a free software called Mp3tag through Windows. My mp3's tagged and embedded through this software display their album cover not just in Windows and VLC on Linux but also on my mobile phone.
Surely something is not right with Amarok when it comes to displaying embedded album art...

Well tried that as well... No effect...

I believe the Amarok team has not yet implemented the embedded album art feature in the music player... I did a bit of search on KDE forums and realised my doubt was correct... They have not implemented embedded album cover feature...
Embedded cover art not recognized by Amarok 2 • KDE Community Forums
MP3's (ID23) embedded coverart not displayed • KDE Community Forums

Unfortunately, this is an existing issue with Amarok...

Then you could use another program (if you have no philosophical problem
with it) like banshee which shows the album art until amarok is fixed.

    Yep!

This issue is still pending since Amaraok 2.1.

I don't know why they don't solve this bug since there's a lot of complaint about that.

Does kid3 recover album art? This is a good id3 tagger soft.

Yeah, Banshee is OK, though I belive it is a GNOME application, isn't it? Will it work flawlessly on KDE?
    I have my doubts!

Did a bit of searching for kid3 on their website and found the following information:-
06 Mar 2010 1.4 Support for Ogg cover art, import from Amazon, usability improvements.
30 Oct 2009 1.3 Support for WMA/ASF, AIFF and WAV files, advanced playlist creation, improved tag editing.
25 Apr 2009 1.2 Import of album cover art, options to mark changed tag fields and to store the ID3v2 genre as text instead of numeric string.
So yeah, it should be a good replacement for my windows mp3tagger...

I use at the moment gnome and prefer some kde apps like k3b, yakuake ,
digikam (no problem), I used kde before and used some gnome apps in kde
(sometimes only for testing things) like banshee, rythmbox, tomboy also no
problem, the only thing is these apps look a bit different than the kde apps
because they use gtk instead of qt for drawing their control elements.
