Thread: Accents on spanish layout

    Post Accents on spanish layout

I'm having a very localized problem here: when I want to write something with accent, like "Arbol", it just doesn't do it in applications like Opera or Kword. Insted, in Firefox it accents characters without any problem. In KDE boxes, it writes the accent before the character, no in the character.

I'm using KDE 4.5 in openSuSe 11.3, and pretty sure I've checked localization settings everywhere, but if any of you could give me some directions, I would appreciate that a lot.

Edit: I'll add that other special characters like , , are recognized.

In KWord there certainly have been bugs related to one of the underlying programs that creates certain types of character; I don't have KDE4.5 but one possibility is that this program is being more widely used before all the bugs have been ironed out. I suggest you check for/submit a bug report to KWord which raises the problems you have encountered.

I would lay it down to Qt4, since OpenOffice works normally too. But applications wich depend on it seem to have the issue I mentioned.

Anyone else with ideas regarding this?
