Default Updating ghostscript on SuSe 10.2 - cups errors

    Hey to all
I'm not sure about right location of the thread. So, if it is not right - please move it

Since there are no new ghostscript in repo for suse 10.2, I went to compile it from sources
But, when making I got errors
ups/gdevcups.c:4743: error: gx_device_cups has no member named header
cups/gdevcups.c:4750: error: gx_device_cups has no member named header
cups/gdevcups.c:4764: error: gx_device_cups has no member named stream
cups/gdevcups.c:4764: error: gx_device_cups has no member named header
    make: *** [obj/gdevcups.o] Error 1

Googling about this issue doesn't give me any luck

version I'm trying to install is 8.64

I will appreciate for any help. ASAP

sorry, openSUSE 10.2 is unsupported and has been since November
2008....suggest you install a supported version and then you should
have no trouble with a current ghostscript (8.70 is in the standard
    openSUSE 11.3 repo)..

hmmmm...there is a chance (i suppose) that you are running SUSE Linux
Enterprise Desktop (SLED) 10 SP 2, which still supported, i
think...but if that is what you are using you need to use SLED repos
and seek assistance over at forums.novell.com

I'm not sure about what exactly I'm using. Server is not mine, I just have to update ghostscript there. And install newer version of OS is not an option for me right now

How I can detect is that openSUSE or SLED? Just to make sure if it is unsupported - that I will have reason why it can't be done

either, or both of these at a command line should tell you:
    Code:
    cat /etc/SuSE-release
    cat /etc/issue
if it is SLED (or SLE Server) check with forums.novell.com, if
openSUSE: being unsupported doesn't mean it is not possible to install
the very latest ghostscript....just that it is impossible to do that
    _easily_ from an openSUSE repo..

sorry, but i don't recognize that error you are getting so i _can't_
    help you with the compile..

you are welcome to hang out here and see if a ghostscript guru happens
by, but if it were me i'd try to find one, maybe here:
    http://www.ghostscript.com/

and, i think i'd also ask on the openSUSE mail list (there is
generally a higher level of technical expertise there) join with: an
    empty mail to opensuse+subscribe@opensuse.org

if you are not familiar with hacker mail list, you really need to read
    this prior to posting:
    http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Mailing_list_netiquette

    good luck!

You may need the source for cups to get the header files. But again you run into that problem of an unsupported distro.

So it is a server, right? Be aware that running an unsupported server is quite risky. You should plan an upgrade as soon as possible.

This is dev server. But I have other server, that running under OpenSuse 10.3. This is live. Is it supported ?
Where I can find info about supported/unsupported versions ?
I was trying to find it on official site, but I don't find. I know that is definetely there, but question where?

See Lifetime - openSUSE 10.3 was a good distribution but is long out of support.
