why do you say "write protected"? the usual expression for a Linux
drive/directory would be "read only"....therefore, if you are getting an
error message, what does it say, _exactly_?
what program is giving the error message? and when?
the USB stick you are using, does it have a switch on it (maybe a
sliding switch) used to make the stick "write protected"?

But you are not displaying here the command used together with the output
message.
I also want to see the output of the command "mount" between code tags
(expert editor, '#').

well, since "ro" mean read only that might have something to do with why
you can't write....
other than that, your info provided so far is unusable to help you..
Carlos asked for you to copy paste the input and output of the commands
you are using to try to "write to" the USB....as well as the mount command..
like:
if you don't know how to do that, then ask..Code:denverd@linux-h7xq:~> cp sigSUSE / cp: cannot create regular file `/sigSUSE': Permission denied denverd@linux-h7xq:~> mount devtmpfs on /dev type devtmpfs (rw,relatime,size=497036k,nr_inodes=124259,mode=755) tmpfs on /dev/shm type tmpfs (rw,relatime) devpts on /dev/pts type devpts (rw,relatime,gid=5,mode=620,ptmxmode=000) /dev/sda6 on / type ext4 (rw,relatime,user_xattr,acl,barrier=1,data=ordered) proc on /proc type proc (rw,relatime) sysfs on /sys type sysfs (rw,relatime) debugfs on /sys/kernel/debug type debugfs (rw,relatime) /dev/sda7 on /home type ext4 (rw,relatime,user_xattr,acl,barrier=1,data=ordered) fusectl on /sys/fs/fuse/connections type fusectl (rw,relatime) /dev/sda2 on /windows/C type fuseblk (rw,nosuid,nodev,noexec,relatime,user_id=0,group_id=0,default_permissions,allow_other,blksize=4096) /dev/sda3 on /windows/D type fuseblk (rw,nosuid,nodev,noexec,relatime,user_id=0,group_id=0,default_permissions,allow_other,blksize=4096) gvfs-fuse-daemon on /home/denver11.4d/.gvfs type fuse.gvfs-fuse-daemon (rw,nosuid,nodev,relatime,user_id=1000,group_id=100)
if you do know how to do it and refuse to, stop asking the question here
because no one can answer until we can *see* your problem.
