I have updated my 64 bit Suse installation to 11.3 and printing stopped working. Part of this was down to problems with the Turboprint cups files locations being in /usr/lib64/cups not /usr/lib/cups where cups expected them to be, but once that had been sorted I got entirely black printouts from the printer.
This was resolved by replacing the installed ghostscript library with the later one here http://download.opensuse.org/update/11.3-test/rpm/x86_64/ghostscript-library-8.70-15.1.1.x86_64.rpm, I found out about this from a link the Turboprint people gave me: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=603131
