    Question 11.3 About kickoff categories

    Hello world !

I tested openSUSE 11.2 KDE and I remember that there was too many categories in the kickoff ... For example you need to navigate in menu > application > multimedia > video to find vlc ...

And now I would like to know if it still the case in the 11.3 KDE ? For me it's very boring to use. Of course I can type the name of the application or use favorites, but this doesn't solve the problem.

If this persists, does it exists a solution ? Without rename all categories ofc ...

    Thanks
    bye

PS : I haven't the opportunity to test with a live cd for the moment

The kickoff menu hasn't changed in 11.3.

You can always switch to the Classic Menu.
    To do this:

    • Make sure your widgets are unlocked.
    • Right click on the Application Launcher widget.
    • Select "Switch to Classic Menu Style"

Now you need to click on the launcher->Multimedia >Video Player->vlc.
Beside the fact it's still very long it doesn't look great.

    Good luck!
Where did I put my coffee cup?
    dir -R /home/* | grep "coffee cup"

    Thanks Edward,

I always switch to the classic, and indeed it's the same thing
For example, the mandriva 2010 menu is perfect for me ... But I want to discover other gnu/linux than mandriva/ubuntu/debian, and i like the chameleon ...

You can edit the kick-off menu as much as you want - merge, delete whatever.

I wasn't that keen when it was first introduced but the classic menu just seems and looks so 1983ish these days.
