    Default KDE+11.3 login screen

    Hi,
i would like to change my login screen, but within the menu if i download a different one it does not show up in the list.
Also, if i try to use one of the basic in the list, i still have the green standart login screen.
Do i have to do it on a command level and if, where is it located? Wasn't able to find the location.

If you are talking of the System Settings page for changing the login screen
that does not work in SuSE, you have to use Yast and go to the /etc/sysconfig
editor then browse to Desktop>Display manager>DISPLAYMANAGER_KDM_THEME

Then enter the name of the theme you want to use these are stored in:

    /usr/share/kde4/apps/kdm/themes

You just need to put the name of the theme dir in the box that is all, for
example I use the palmscan theme and so I just enter palmscan in the box.

    Aha... never knew.
Ok, i assumed it would do it. All the themes i download with the app are downloaded. Just not written in the table... or config.

    Thanks

You can use the login manager. At least to some extent. But first you have to set /etc/sysconfig > Desktop>Display manager>DISPLAYMANAGER_KDM_THEME to an empty string.

However, on 11.2 it used to be the case that Login Manager tended to forget its settings (or had them overwritten) quite often. I think, they were all back to default after every SUSE.config. (I managed to fix that though)

On 11.3, I am not sure yet if that is the same, or if Login Manager now is better at remebering its settings.
