    Default Only one screensaver

Hi all, I'm new to Opensuse....i am running 11.2, until I can upgrade to 11.3. But one issue I can't seem to resolve in KDE or Gnome, when the screen saver kicks in, only one deploys, even though it is set to random. Any and all assistance is greatly appreciated.

my best advice is to *not* select Random...my _experience_ is that
eventually one of the randomly selected screen savers will have a bad
reaction to your system, or what something which is going on in the
background, or a cron launches or or or or ...

and when you return to your machine it will be (mysteriously) locked
up, or you can't get the saver to go away, or the keyboard won't work,
or the mouse is crazy, or or or or or ...

anyway, the earth is running out of fuel: turn the monitor OFF, that
will save the screen too (even though there is zero reason to run a
    "screen saver" with modern screens)

Thank you for the quick reply. I will probably turn off screen saver off one of the 3 machines that will eventually run Snort, IPCop or whichever. OpenSuse is on a older machine and I kinda like the way ubuntu and fedora would run with suse during "screensaver" downtime.....kinda relaxing to zoneout, rethink what I have to do solving a computer problem----of course, that's just me.
If I find the solution, I'll post incase anyone else is running a old box, or just have the problem.

Interesting. I've been using Random in KDE for at least five years and never met any of those problems.

I have. You were lucky not to.

i've had it periodically with Red Hat, Fedora, and *SUSE since about
'99 on several different boxes and using several versions of
Gnome/KDE... finally i ran into an old timer who told me to pick one
saver (or just use "blank screen") and i've not had one sense--now,
_maybe_ that was the same day you began never seeing it...i don't
know...well, i do know i've had "blank screen" set since about 2003..

obviously, ymmv and you can (as Carlos mentioned) be lucky.

Yesterday I installed 11.3 on my main computer and today I hit the problem for the first time. As far as I can see it only affects OpenGL screensavers but I am investigating as it is interesting that I have not had this problem on any earlier distro - and I frequently have the screensavers in operation.

I think there is a random screensaver selector that allows you to allow
only a list of screensavers that work.

I am testing now using only fireworkx as screen saver; so far so good.
