  1. #1

Default 11.3 KDE - Adobe Air not able to invoke password dialog

Adobe Air are not able to invoke the password dialog for installing apps in opensuse11.3 (i686) .. it waits for root password confirmation however there is no dialog window to input the password to. I've tried installing adobe air apps as both su and normal user, no mather what I do it's not envoking the password dialog..

I've also tried to install the gnome su library to see if it helps any but it don't...

I have also tried to reinstall Adobe Air using both the rpm installer and the binary installer from adobe.com, the binary installer won't even install.

Is there anyone that can help out with this problem so I can get the use of the AIR apps I need ?

    From AIR installation log
[Adobe AIR Application Installer:12808][INFO] Waiting for user confirmation

Edit: By the way, I've also tried the normal troubleshooting such as removing the crypt cataloge, removing cache and etc..

From looking at the note on Adobe's site: Troubleshooting AIR's Encrypted Local Storage (ELS) on Linux, it looks like our friends at Adobe there there is only Gnome. So those of us that either choose KDE or just left it at the installer's default are missing the one package. And the RPM is one of the many out there that don't list their dependencies properly for zypper to figure it out, if it lists it at all.
Of course, given Adobe's apparently myopic history of ignoring the realities of Linux ... having to install one package doesn't seem too bad.
I guess I'm just used to some companies that are used to Apple and MS just kind of missing the fact that there is fragmentation/choice in Linux that doesn't exist else where. Of course, the choice of different window managers would be a Feature, right?

I had this issue as well.

I actually would run into it with various RPM's I would try to DL and launch from within my browser.

I was able to install AIR by just downloading the RPM, then fired up the SU Nautilus, navigated to the Download dir, double-clicked the RPM, and the installer ran without issue.

Next step will be to see if I can actually run any AIR apps, but this got me past step 1.
