Compiz questions

so i have 2 questions relating to compiz (i think/hope!!)

  1. i’ve read about aero snap (win 7’s snap to 1/2 screen) plugin for compiz; tiles. however it seems to be a plugin thats no longer available. has this been renamed or replaced by something else?

  2. i currently have SUSE installed on a laptop (intel 3/4 series graphics), with a docking station and a 22" display attached. laptop res is 1280x900, ext 22" is 1680x1050.
what i’d like is for SUSE to automatically turn off the laptop LCD and switch over to the 22" when connected to the docking station, and vice versa when it gets undocked (including resolution change). i think maybe a feature of compiz under the ‘desktop’ section, but not sure how or what to configure.

That’s not compiz, that would be the X system, graphical configuration.
And I’m not sure how to do it, now that sax2 is no more.

To be a bit more general:

The dropping of SaX2:
I have collected some information on the dropping
see: Archive:SaX2 .
The last information was in the newsgroups there:
Re: [opensuse-wiki] Landing page for 11.3

The alternatives after SaX2:
I did not like SaX2 very much. But I would be interested in any alternatives, too. Especially cause to my knowing there are some graphical tools which are related to/which have been using saX2 (see: YaST Mouse Model or [opensuse] Where has the graphics card and monitor adjustment icon in YaST gone?](http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse/2010-07/msg00252.html)) - are there alternatives for that, too? Can anybody how has openSUSE 11.3 (public release) just installed report anything about that?

im now running 11.3, mostly due to reading somewhere that the intel drivers may of been updated to support docking station use.
im still in the same situation as 11.2; i want my laptop to auto switch to the external monitor and disable the laptop LCD when on the dock.

also seems in running the 4500MHD graphics chipset too; so fairly new…

I’m not sure about a compiz implementation, but there is one in the native KDE Kwin Desktop Effects.

I did however find a little how-to. I’m guessing you wouldn’t have to download anything extra other than what you would usually download in openSUSE.

Otherwise I see that it’s introduced in compiz 0.9.

thanks ijbreakey - your first link worked, substituing ‘zypper’ for ‘apt-get’.
