I’ve just installed OpenSUSE. I’ve never used it before. I typically use apt-get to install applications when using Ubuntu; so I’d like to use it with OpenSUSE.
I’ve read some documentation saying that I need to go to YaST -> Software and search for “apt” or “synaptic.” However, both of these searches yield no results. Additionally, using the Software Manager to search for these yields no results.
What can I do?
Thank you for your help
P.S. When I search for something in OpenSUSE and there are 0 results, I get HTML bold tags around the search criteria where it says there are no results (as in, I can actually see the code for the bold tag).
Buttons in Eclipse do not work… Meaning exactly that… when I click on a button (any button) in Eclipse IDE, nothing happens. The button gains focus, but it would appear no functionality is executed.
Even if you install apt, you could not use SUSE repositories with it. You only would be able to add repositories from apt rpm -based distributions, such as PCLinuxOS, Alt Linux, Fedora (Fedora in fact also has SUSE-compatible yum system, so apt is not needed for adding a Fedora repo).
Maybe, but the original poster wrote: “P.S. When I search for something in OpenSUSE and there are 0 results, I get HTML bold tags around the search criteria where it says there are no results (as in, I can actually see the code for the bold tag).”
because he is not searching in the software section… as the screenshot shows
