Default gnome-panel on the left side of the screen crashes when too much programs loaded

    Hello,

I pretty much tried to describe the problem in the title.
It is not actually very annoying - just annoying. So a small annoying bug.

My gnome-panel is at the left side of my screen (I use the 'splendid' cairo-dock at the bottom of my screen). But when more than eight windows are open, the dock freezes. The 'Computer' button works, as well as the tray icons. My CPU rushes to 26% constantly. Solution is to kill gnome-panel and it reappears without complaining (if few than 8 windows open).

OS: opensuse 11.2 64 bit on i5 core 540M (HP Elitebook)

Thanks for any suggestions or comments,
    Joachim

    Welcome to the forums !!!!!

We need some info to help you. Please tell us what the videocard is, and whether you use a 3rd party driver.
Also, how much RAM does the machine have?
Are desktop effects on, if so is the behaviour the same with the desktop effects off ?
° Appreciate my reply? Click the star and let me know why.

° Perfection is not gonna happen. No way.

Videocard: Nvidia NVS 5100 - I use the nvidia driver
    RAM: 4Gb
Desktop effects are on, but when switched off, the issue remains. Up to 7 windows appear nicely in the gnome-panel taskbar, from the seventh window, the entries are appearing to fill up the complete panel, and the panel freezes (perhaps a better word than 'crashes').
