    Default OpenOffice.org Base crashes

Every couple of hours OOo Base crashes - just closes the program of its' own accord.

Annoying enough in itself, but at least it usually recovers up to the last point I saved my work. The last time it happened though it didn't even recover to my last save point - it recovered to an old save point! So I have lost 30 minutes' work.

    Any ideas anyone?

I have that problem - even more severe than what you describe - with 11.2 on
KDE. I keep an 11.1 installation that is rock solid running Base (or using
the Calc Base interface) just for that reason. I have had a things stable
with 11.2 but I cross my fingers with every update because I've yet to
figure out what the root cause is. Logs indicate that the titsup is
in/related to one of the python helper modules but I can't get a consistent
enough test case to get past the cuss and restart phase yet.

Kindly post if you get any clues.

Thanks for the reply. I have actually decided to pack openSUSE in tho so I can't be of any help. This OOoBase problem is a critical issue as far as I am concerned (if this isn't critical I don't know what is!), yet there has been no attempt to help from the community at all (no offence to you of course!).

This was just the last in a string of problems with SUSE though (printing not working, incredibly slow package management, kde crashes, dropbox not working...) so I've wiped it.

What a massive disappointment openSUSE has been. After reading good reports I had high hopes of it being a serious desktop solution, but it is nowhere near ready for proper business use. Back to CentOS for me for the time being.

You give up too easily ;-)

This issue has been around since the first updates to the 11.2 distro. From
what I can tell, it has to do with an openOffice update in the python math
routines which ship with OO so this may not be the forum to get solutions
anyway. From what I see, not that many people use Base the way I do
(reports from DB2 databases) so interest may also be low.

Good luck - be interesting to see how you come out with another distro.
From what I see here, you may not find a satisfactory answer other than
    hollering at the OO developers.
