Serial Hardware connect

HI all, I hope this is the right place to post this. I am running OS11.2. I have a couple of items that are old school Serial devices. I am unable to figure out how to get OS to recognize and allow me to use these. The software for them are windows apps. So I’d need to use a Virtual windows Which I’ve installed to Win4lin, Virtual Box,Parallels and Crossover. But since OS doesn’t see/recognize the serial ports I can’t use me devises.

Can someone tell me how to activate the serial ports on my machine?

In openSUSE the device names /dev/tty0 = COM1, /dev/tty1 = COM2 and so forth. It is a stretch normally to address hardware directly from a virtual session, but perhaps the link above will tell you how to do it.
