Thread: Is KDevelop 4 (stable) arriving soon?

  1. #1

Default Is KDevelop 4 (stable) arriving soon?

    Hi everyone,

Apparently KDevelop 4.0 is out. Any chance that a package for openSUSE 11.2 will become available, or do we have to wait for 11.3?

The current version (3.9.95) is pretty functional but VERY buggy (frequent crashes, can't change certain settings, parser errors, etc.)

    Thanks,
    Jesse

I found it(for 11.2) in the Backports repository via the software search

    http://software.opensuse.org/search

    seems to work :-)

Seems I spoke too soon. I get the error

    Code:
kdevelop.bin: symbol lookup error: kdevelop.bin: undefined symbol: _ZN8KDevelop4Core10initializeEP13KSplashScreenNS0_5SetupE
    Has anyone gotten this?

Hmmm, it seems like updating to the factory repo involves changing a LOT of dependencies. Have you had any trouble with this breaking other programs?

    Thanks

Before you go on, please notice that you were not suggested to switch to openSUSE Factory, but to update KDE4 to KDE4:Factory desktop.
    Please post output of:
    Code:
    zypper lr -d

Right, so updating just the desktop would only mean updating KDE4 applications, then?

    Here you go:

Before you do anything, remove 2, 8, 9, 10 and 13. You may want to add the Community and Playground repos for KDE4:Factory_Desktop. Update the KDE4 packages by using the "Switch system packages to ...." using the repo view.
After your KDE4 is completely up to date, use http://software.opensuse.org/search to find the desired version of Kdevelop.

Be careful which repository you're working with. The Backports one is geared to KDE 4.3.x, while Factory assumes you have updated to KDE 4.4.x.
