Thread: flash doesn't have GPU acceleration option?

  1. #1

Question flash doesn't have GPU acceleration option?

On windows xp when i right-click on the flash video, i can choose 'enable hardware acceleration', but when i do the same for OpenSuse i don't have any hardware acceleration option.

How can i have a GPU/hardware acceleration option for flash?

Its not possible, Adobe refuses to put in hardware acceleration for Flash on
Linux. This is the reason that full-screen flash video is so much worse on
    Linux than Windows.

Its the downside of using closed source and one of the reasons everyone
    wants HTML5 to succeed.

I'm running 64-bit flash here with openSUSE 11.2 x64 and I have the "enable hardware acceleration" option active.

The box is checked for me as well. Maybe you need proprietary drivers?

Same over here - and since I haven't even checked that setting before, I suppose it is a default. It *might* indeed be a GFX-driver Issue, so which one do you use?

Okay, I might have misunderstood the question. I was talking about Flash
supporting hardware video decoding acceleration, which does NOT work on
Linux and is the reason full-screen video is not very good. Just read
    http://blogs.adobe.com/penguin.swf/

Straight-up hardware acceleration is semi-supported on Linux, and I do have
that option. If the OP doesn't, it might indeed be a video driver issue.
Make sure you are running a driver that provides hardware acceleration.
