Firefox not working with Bank of America Website

For some reason Firefox on openSUSE isn’t working on the Bank of America website. Bank of America works just fine on Firefox on windows VM though. The problems are especially with scripts like the BoA Mail CGI, and their “special offers” scripted web pages.

I have search for Firefox updates on YaST and looks like I already have latest version, 3.5.9. Any idea why it isn’t working and how to get it to work?

I’ve been using FireFox on openSuse since 2000 and have had no issues using BofA regularly.

Maybe if you can be more specific about the errors you encounter someone could get things working for you.

Mainly, I get sometimes get “blank” pages. The pages won’t load at all/get stuck loading. As mentioned, this is usually pages with some kind of script. Like the special offer pages you see sometimes after login or logoff. Also, I have problem with their internal Mail. Those pages turn up blank/won’t load.

start by clearing all history, cache and browser cookies pointing to
the bank…

see if that solves the problem, if not then disable all firefox addons
and try again…

then, if the problem goes away add back (one-by-one testing in
between) the addons…beginning with the ones you most use and need…

eventually, by patience and testing you will probably learn which
addon is causing the problem

does BoA use java? do they have a page which tests your browsers
currency or ability to interact correctly? does your bank have pages
on how to solve browser problems? (most of the larger banks are WELL
aware of the different problems and know how to solve them)

good luck (banks and browser problems are kinda tough to track down)…

You don’t by chance have any addons installed, do you? If you do, try
accessing the site with Firefox in “safe” mode.

firefox -safe-mode

Don’t check any boxes, just select “continue in safe mode”.

I’ve run into problems like you described a few times in the past and it
was one of the plugins I run interfering with something (noscript,
firebug, or one of about 15 others).
