Default not a real big problem

randomly firefox (3.59) will not close properly, using the x button will remove it from my de, but it will keep running in the background, and i cant reopen it, receiving a message stating that another ff session is still running. i have to kill its pid id manually. not a big deal but... any idea?
    (11.2/kde4.3.5 release 0, x86_64)

My first experiment would be to try a new .mozilla folder (just re-name the the current one to .mozilla-old).
If it clears the issue doing this, we at least know the settings there are the problem.

Had the same problem a while back and just went to mozilla website where they explained a command to issue in terminal to fix it. If you google "firefox already running" and choose the mozilla link it will tell you how to find your profile folder and how to find and remove the lock file. This will solve the problem. So now you have two ways to solve it. 1) by command 2) manual remove lock.

It seems that you got valuable advice here. I hope this makes you happy and thus in a mood not to be angry at me when I state that the Title of your thread "not a real big problem" does not help to give any information in which tiny place of the computer universe your problem belongs. Thus it is sheer luck that some people who have the time to look at every thread, however lousy the title is, found this one.

Please try next time to make a title with a few words about the subject ("Firefox" in this case) and the problem ("says it runs allready" or likewise). It will bring you better help and save others some of the time they voluntarily spend.

indeed i received valuable advices on my post, again, for the peoples who helped me, 2 words : thank you.
again as stated 'not a real big problem' (and i believe, in the right section) means that i accept to be on a lower priority, i understand your point of view if you are in an emergency unit or in critical communication between air traffic controllers.
from now on, before publication for title approbation i will submit to The Hague.

It is in the right subforum (and we have allready a man's day work a day to stop people asking for help in the General Chit-chat subforum).

Nevertheless the general opinion is that usfull titles are help full, for you, for those who want to help, and for others after you who might find the thread applicable to their problem and use the forums search function.

Can you imagine how may results the search for "help" will emerge?
