This is because that directory is a root directory and root access is cut off by default in most linuxes.
But I thought that the gnome version has a font installer that can install fonts systemwide though, but maybe you are not using 11.2... I dont know, you didnt say what version of opensuse you have so I am taking a guess you have 11.2

You need to use sudo and if it's got a space in the name use a \ eg;
the second command updates the fonts cache for the syste, the secon runCode:sudo cp FFF\ Tusj.ttf /usr/share/fonts/truetype/ sudo /usr/sbin/fonts-config fc-cache
as your user updates the local one.
