Default Help with sending email using PHP

I'm attempting to send email used a textbook PHP application. The application fails to send an email.
Do I need to setup an email server to get the ap to work?
Right now, I'm getting email through Kontact via my web host, Yahoo mail and Google mail.
The greatest obstacle to discovery is not ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge.

Postfix should already be running and is suitable. What you might need to do is set the RELAYHOST to your ISP's mail server. You need the package yast2-mail to configure your mail server via YaST.

What is the code you are using? Do you have an MTA (Postfix by default on
SUSE stuff) installed on your server? Can you send mail from the same box
from the mail command? Tried a LAN trace of the mail attempt to see if it
fails? Does it matter if you mail somebody on the server itself
(root@localhost for example) or a user out in the real world?

    Good luck.
