    Default Software for a Dictionary / Thesaurus

    Hi Folks!

    I am not that new to Linux, but new to openSUSE (v. 11.2 KDE) and really love it.

    What I can't seem to find in the repositories is software for Dictionary Definitions and a Thesaurus - in another distro there is what is called "Online Dictionary" (which includes synonyms) and another distro there is what is called "WordNet";

    So, I would like to know the name(s) to look for in the repositories for software for a Dictionary / Thesaurus, where it is two different software packages or just one.

    I did see the "webpin" finds "WordNet", but installation of that fails.

    Thanks,
    Star_Gazer

    If you are using Konqueror, go to Settings>Configure Konqueror>Web shortcuts and you will find a lot of web shortcuts which you can activate in Konqueror to bring up dictionaries or thesauri on the web.

    Thanks.

    I've studied the info you supplied, but cannot find that Dictionary Widget you are referring to - If it is here, I guess I will eventually find it - I still have a lot of playing to do with this openSUSE ;-)

    Thanks.

    I guess I can load up Konqueror just as good as I could Wordnet or the such - I'm generally online most of the time, but a Dictionary / Thesaurus Software package would be nice for when I am offline, though it be rare (generally when there is a router problem).

    Ahhh - brilliant caf4926! Thanks. I got the widget added to the "panel" (I think that is the word we use for the bottom bar instead of "taskbar" which is used by that OS from MS ).

    Thanks,
    Star_Gazer
    P.S. Just tried to look up the word 'windows' and got nothing - hmmm, maybe that is a feature!
