Well, It's happening again. I have OpenSuse 11.4 with Dolphin 1.6 and ext4. When I try to copy 4.2 Gb of photos from my external usb disk (formatted with ntfs) to my home directory, Dolphin only copy 2 Gb in a random way. The source files were located in several directories. I just selected the root directory, and started a usual copy/paste operation using the mouse. I repeated the operation 3 times with the same unexpected result. Midnight Commander was the final solution.

Are you sure the files weren't copied? Dolphin sometimes doesn't update
its lists and a file you know you've copied/created/renamed doesn't
appear, even after a refresh. The only way to find them is by another
program, Konqueror say, or by using a search tool.

    Suse 11.3 / KDE
same here, dolphin doesn't update its lists.
Some "moved" files still appear in the source list. If I click on it, dolphin says the file does not exists.
    Closing and restarting dolphin helps.
    Switched to Gnome, sorry.

No problem but if you only disliked the broken behaviour of the default
file manager, why didn't you just change that? You can as well configure
    nautilus in kde.

But that is not reliable operation.

Too true! I mentioned this problem with Dolphin some time ago but
no-one else had the symptoms at the time. I did some tests to see if I
could regularly reproduce it but it did seem random. One day it would
fail every time, the next it would always work perfectly under the same
circumstances. Can't recall if I raised a bug but with something as
erratic as this it becomes difficult to convince others that there is a
problem. I'll have another look at it and raise a bug if I haven't done
    so previously.

I'm seeing the same update issue with copy/delete ops using konqueror as the
file manager - real PITA. I'm using a command line session to check the
results for now. The only way I can trust either Dolphin (not my favorite
tool anyway) or konqueror is to close all sessions of it then re-launch it.
