How,if at all, can I mark a thread as solved?

A Newbie to SUSE, thank goodness, and thank you, these forums make the difference
and I will always leave a thread "SOLVED" with noobies in mind, like I would like!

You can't edit a post once 10 minutes has expired.

You can however add solved to the title in any reply you make - Like I just did
Of course I can mark your post solved and edit it whenever I want

    Thanks,

and your point is well taken, but putting solved in the search brings up everything, and I am unfamiliar with the rest of the forum. Taking a while to get used to my new DISTRO, slowly but SURELY, and
too bad googling a problem with opensuse is not as successfull as with my old ubuntu but...

responces are fast and often awesome on SUSE forums!!!!!!!!!

    Thanks to you all!

and I will follow your lead.

and how does know when to mark the top post as in the whole thread solved... I just did this on another thread I solved but it doesn't show it on the top post, or does it take a moderator or something to confirm it a little later??

maybe that is because more people have more problems with Unbutu? or,
more of the people using openSUSE find their answer without generating
another place (new question thread) for google to look?

here is a tip for you when you are looking for an openSUSE specific
problem/solution: use the site specifier function of google by putting
    this into your search string:

    site:forums.opensuse.org

that will confine all searches to within these forums AND a huge
    archive of past messages..

or, an even broader source (including the wiki and documentation) use

    sitepensuse.org

if you are searching for a generic linux question, use the search
    blank at http://www.google.com/linux

btw, happy you got the WINE working for ya...so, Have a lot of fun!

The whole thing about not marking a thread "Solved" has to do with openSuSE also using a newslist to distribute, and it breaks the thread there. Some day I'll sit down and take a look at that and see if I can figure out an answer - some way to make a "solved" mark possible - when I get time.

I agree with you about openSuSE documentation not being easy to find. There is a lot more documentation then one realizes at first. The tip about using the domain to restrict the google search might help - I haven't tried it, since I've bookmarked a number of pages. Like this one:
New User How To/FAQ (read only) - openSUSE Forums
Highly recommended by me - LOTS of links to all the documentation new Suse users need.

The difficulty of finding openSuSE docs in a general search is also something I intend to help rectify - when I get time <sigh>.

Just a trivial question, would it be a solution to "tag" it solved. So user could filter for solved tags?
Just "clicking away" security warnings about a change in repo signature ? Not able to control?
    Then please vote for

Yes, and that option has been suggested in the forums comments and
suggestions discussions in the past. :-)
