Default VMware server will not install?

I just loaded openSUSE 11.2 64bit and can't get VMware server to install. I had it working just fine in 11.1. I installed: kernel-source, make, gcc, gcc-c++, downloaded VMware server RPM installed with Yast. opened a console went root and ran: /usr/bin/vmware-config.pl. Make aborts with the following few lines:

Prior to this had a whole rift of Warning Such as:

/tmp/vmware-config6/vmmon-only/./include/vm_atomic.h:329:7: warning: "_MSC_VER" is not defined

/tmp/vmware-config6/vmmon-only/linux/driver.c:1987: error: struct task_struct has no member named euid
/tmp/vmware-config6/vmmon-only/linux/driver.c:1987: error: struct task_struct has no member named uid

/tmp/vmware-config6/vmmon-only/linux/driver.c:2007: error: too many arguments to function smp_call_function
    make[4]: *** [/tmp/vmware-config6/vmmon-only/linux/driver.o] Error 1
    make[3]: *** [_module_/tmp/vmware-config6/vmmon-only] Error 2
    make[2]: *** [sub-make] Error 2
    make[1]: *** [all] Error 2
    make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux-2.6.31.8-0.1-obj/x86_64/desktop'
    make: *** [vmmon.ko] Error 2
    make: Leaving directory `/tmp/vmware-config6/vmmon-only'
Unable to build the vmmon module.

in the past I followed instructions I down loaded for "swerdna" and it worked well. Not this time! Help!

I wish VMware would just come out and say they are deprecating 'Server'.
Development has been virtually zero since the release of ESXi. The problem
is ESXi driver support is worse than any version of Linux.

If there was a "free" product (by any vendor) that ran in Linux and was as good as VMware server used to be, I'd be gone in a heartbeat. Any ideas?

I switched to VirtualBox. I like it better then VMware Server. I do have one problem, I develop Windows programs and use a Clipper clone called Xbase++ the debugger does not work in Vbox but did in Server. But It also has to do with the processor, AMD in my case. I know someone that is setup almost the same as I am but has an Intel processor and the debugger runs for him. Not anything I can't work around though. I also like that Vbox mounts my home in the Windows network system automatically.

I think the 3D screen drivers are better in the latest release (not the one from the repositories)

Not free, but I will say that VMware Workstation on Linux is the bees knees.
Too bad they've let their free version slide.
