Question Kopete, Choqk and Dolphin, crashes almost 5 times a day ...

    Hi everybody.

I start this threat just to check if someone has this problems and if there is any workaround...

Kopete an Choqk crashes every time they can in a day without reason, just say "seg fault" in the crash report. Before i post this on bugzilla i just wanna check if this is a know problem.

Dolphin crashes when I'm working on NTFS volumes copying or renaming files: If i copy a file, and a dialog that says "cant write permissions" appears, and i hit enter to get rid of the dialog, crash! Seg Fault... If i don't hit enter, and use the mouse to get rid of the dialog, no prob. Only happens in a NTFS volume.

The other two doesn't give me a reason of the crash

    Info of the machine:

/data is the directory of more heavy work ...

    alex@altair:~> cat /etc/fstab
    /dev/disk/by-id/ata-WDC_WD1600BEVT-60ZCT1_WD-WXCX08578874-part5 swap swap defaults 0 0
    /dev/disk/by-id/ata-WDC_WD1600BEVT-60ZCT1_WD-WXCX08578874-part6 / ext4 noatime,acl,user_xattr 1 1
    /dev/disk/by-id/ata-WDC_WD1600BEVT-60ZCT1_WD-WXCX08578874-part2 /data ntfs-3g noatime,users,gid=users,fmask=113,dmask=002,locale=es_ES.UTF-8 0 0
    /dev/disk/by-id/ata-WDC_WD1600BEVT-60ZCT1_WD-WXCX08578874-part1 /windows ntfs-3g noatime,users,gid=users,fmask=133,dmask=022,locale=es_ES.UTF-8 0 0
    proc /proc proc defaults 0 0
    sysfs /sys sysfs noauto 0 0
    debugfs /sys/kernel/debug debugfs noauto 0 0
    usbfs /proc/bus/usb usbfs noauto 0 0
    devpts /dev/pts devpts mode=0620,gid=5 0 0
Why should i update kde? I'm on the official stable release right?

I dont have the videoLan repo, only packman :S

I will make the "switch system packages" that you recommend...

    Disable libdvdcss repo then.

    edit fstab like this.

    open a terminal and type;
    Code:
    kdesu kwrite /etc/fstab
    Change like this:

    /dev/disk/by-id/ata-WDC_WD1600BEVT-60ZCT1_WD-WXCX08578874-part5 swap swap defaults 0 0
    /dev/disk/by-id/ata-WDC_WD1600BEVT-60ZCT1_WD-WXCX08578874-part6 / ext4 noatime,acl,user_xattr 1 1
    /dev/disk/by-id/ata-WDC_WD1600BEVT-60ZCT1_WD-WXCX08578874-part2 /data ntfs-3g defaults 0 0
    /dev/disk/by-id/ata-WDC_WD1600BEVT-60ZCT1_WD-WXCX08578874-part1 /windows ntfs-3g defaults 0 0

    proc /proc proc defaults 0 0
    sysfs /sys sysfs noauto 0 0
    debugfs /sys/kernel/debug debugfs noauto 0 0
    usbfs /proc/bus/usb usbfs noauto 0 0
    devpts /dev/pts devpts mode=0620,gid=5 0 0
    save
    reboot

There is an updated stable repo BTW.

    You add it

    kde4 stable desktop
    Index of /repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/STABLE:/Desktop/openSUSE_11.2

    then do this
ImageBam - Fast, Free Image Hosting and Photo Sharing

logout and back in to see changes

Please take my suggestion, update to KDE4 4.3 ; KDE4 is a work in progress, merely upgrading may very well solve all your trouble. KDE4 4.3 is very stable IMHO.

If this is not what you want, you may consider reinstalling all qt4- and related packages.

    Hi!

I have done all the advices:

    Code:
    alex@altair:~> kde4-config -v
    Qt: 4.5.3
    KDE: 4.3.4 (KDE 4.3.4) "release 2"
    kde4-config: 1.0
    The problem continues...
