Thread: Virtualbox Non-OSE

    Default Virtualbox Non-OSE

I have installed the prerequisites for the non-ose version of virtualbox and installed from the virtualbox website.

When I try to start a vm, it tells me to run /etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup. I do that and get the following:

    curtis-suse:/home/curtis # /etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup
    Stopping VirtualBox kernel module done
Removing old VirtualBox netadp kernel module done
Removing old VirtualBox netflt kernel module done
Removing old VirtualBox kernel module done
    Recompiling VirtualBox kernel module done
    Starting VirtualBox kernel module failed
(modprobe vboxnetflt failed. Please use 'dmesg' to find out why)
    curtis-suse:/home/curtis #

However, I don't know what to look for in dmesg.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

It will be the last few lines of dmesg output immediately after the failure (dmesg outputs a sequential log). You can always trigger the messages by loading the module by hand: modprobe vboxnetflt.

The message might also be in the last few lines of /var/log/messages.
